Why some reports were counted once

CityNews and The VOICE — the same report, published near-identically, counted once.

When several outlets publish the identical article — often because they ran the same wire-service story — we count it as one source, not several, so the count reflects independent reporting rather than how widely one story was republished.

This summary is compiled from the independent sources listed above.

Four men were taken to hospital after a stabbing at a bar in Vancouver’s Granville Entertainment District just before 3 a.m. Saturday, an attack police say they believe was targeted and tied to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.

Three male patrons were stabbed after an altercation began inside the establishment near Granville Street and Smithe Street. A male bar employee was also injured while trying to intervene.

Altercation Began Inside Bar

Police said witnesses reported that the confrontation escalated inside the venue and involved three male patrons. An unidentified suspect stabbed all three, Vancouver police said.

The employee was hurt while attempting to step into the confrontation, according to police.

All four injured men were transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Responding officers provided first aid at the scene until paramedics arrived.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the altercation, or who has information or video footage, to contact investigators.

Police Cite Gang-Conflict Connection
