The Canada Report is independent, reader-funded Canadian news — with no ads, no paywall, and no outrage bait. Every story is summarized from multiple sources so you get an unbiased picture, not one newsroom's spin.
That independence has a cost, and right now I cover it myself. If you value clear, ad-free Canadian journalism that answers to its readers instead of advertisers, you can help keep it going — and keep it free for everyone else, too.
Independent, reader-funded Canadian news
The Canada Report is a one-person operation. I started it in 2025 because I was tired of news that was buried in ads, hijacked by pop-ups, or locked behind a paywall — and because there wasn't a good place to get Canadian news, summarized clearly from multiple sources, without all the U.S. noise.
So I built the thing I wanted to exist. No ads, no paywall, no outrage bait. Just the news, compiled honestly and laid out plainly, with a trust card on most stories so you can see exactly how it was sourced.
I've kept it ad-free and free-to-read the entire time — even though running ads would be the easy way to cover the bills. I'd rather keep it clean and ask the people who value it to chip in.
Where the money goes
Running The Canada Report isn't free. Every month there's the web hosting, the newswire the stories are compiled from, the tools that help check facts and flag errors, the software that keeps the whole thing running, and the occasional fee for an Access to Information request. It adds up to real money — more than the site brings in.
Reader support closes that gap. It doesn't buy you anything special, because there's nothing to unlock — everything here is free, for everyone, always. What your support buys is the continued existence of an independent Canadian news site that answers to its readers and no one else. No advertisers. No investors. No agenda.
Pick a tier
Every tier is named after Canadian money — because that's exactly what this is: Canadians pitching in to keep something worthwhile running. Pick whatever feels right. They're all the same "thank you" from me.
