Toronto police are asking for the public’s help to find three children missing after an alleged parental abduction in the Midland Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East area.
The children are Daniel, 6, Irina, 3, and Anastasia, who is four months old. Police say they were last seen Friday during a semi-supervised visit at a relative’s home near Midland Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East.
Police Seek Three Missing Children
Police say the children’s mother, 22-year-old Somerda Miclescu, fled the premises with them during the visit. Miclescu does not have legal custody of the children and her current location is unknown, police say.
“Today, we are continuing to ask the public to be aware and keep an eye out for the missing children, the suspect vehicle, and the suspect, their mother, Somerda,” Inspector Jeff Allington told reporters.
Police are asking the public to keep an eye out for Daniel, Irina and Anastasia, as well as the vehicle police believe may have been used in the alleged abduction.
Police have described Miclescu as about five-foot-seven and 180 pounds, with long dark or black hair. She was last seen wearing a long black skirt and a dark-coloured top.
Police Say Miclescu May Be Driving White Ford Expedition
Investigators believe Miclescu is driving a 2017 white Ford Expedition SUV bearing Ontario licence plate DJJS 875.
Police have also identified 25-year-old Ionut Stroe as a person of interest. They say he owns the vehicle believed to have been used in the abduction.
Stroe is wanted on four counts of failing to comply with a release order, police say. Those allegations are separate from the reported parental abduction.
Allington said investigators were actively following leads as the public appeal continued.
No Amber Alert Issued
Police say no Amber Alert has been issued because they do not believe the circumstances currently meet the threshold for one.
That decision does not change the police request for public assistance in locating the children, their mother and the white Ford Expedition.
Police say the children were last seen during a semi-supervised visit at a relative’s home and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
How to Contact Police
Anyone with information that could help locate Daniel, Irina or Anastasia, or identify the whereabouts of Miclescu, Stroe or the Ford Expedition, is asked to contact Toronto police at 416-808-4100.
