A proactive morning patrol on 100 Street in North Battleford ended with four local residents under arrest after Battlefords RCMP stopped a vehicle and later found weapons and drug trafficking paraphernalia inside.
The stop happened at about 8 a.m. on July 7. Police determined that multiple occupants of the vehicle were breaching court-ordered conditions, setting off a chain of arrests that led to weapons charges for all four accused.
Morning stop on 100 Street
Battlefords RCMP were conducting proactive patrols when officers stopped the vehicle on 100 Street, according to details confirmed across multiple reports.
What began as a vehicle stop became a broader investigation once police assessed the people inside. RCMP determined multiple occupants were in breach of court-ordered conditions. Three men and one woman were arrested at the scene.
Police said the woman resisted arrest before officers safely took her into custody.
Weapons found in the vehicle
After the arrests, officers searched the vehicle. Police found a sawed-off firearm, bear spray, a knife and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
The seizure is the central fact behind the charges now before the court. The presence of a firearm in the vehicle, along with other weapons, led to a set of Criminal Code weapons allegations against each of the four accused.
Four accused named
The accused are Jayaleo Pete, 30, Christopher Fiddler, 40, Kiandra Jackson, 25, and Dale Starchief, 25. All four are from North Battleford.
Each has been charged with possession of a firearm, weapon, device or ammunition in a motor vehicle, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Reports differ on the exact additional counts beyond those shared weapons charges, but all four accused face weapons offences stemming from the July 7 traffic stop.
Fiddler was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from the Edmonton Police Service.
Court appearance followed
All four accused appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on July 8.
The case now moves through the court system after a stop that lasted only a short time on 100 Street but produced a significant seizure for Battlefords RCMP: a sawed-off firearm, bear spray, a knife and drug trafficking paraphernalia, all allegedly found in the same vehicle after police determined several occupants were already breaching court-ordered conditions.
