Brutal Attack on Pitt Meadows Businessman

A shocking incident in Pitt Meadows, B.C., has left a family fearing for their safety and fleeing the country. On September 26, John Ling, a local businessman and owner of Canadian Aviation College, was brutally attacked just steps from his front door. Surveillance footage captured two masked men armed with baseball bats assaulting Ling as he approached his home. His wife attempted to intervene, but the attackers continued their assault before fleeing the scene. Ling's daughter and dog were also present, visibly distressed by the violent encounter.

Ling's lawyer, Russell Robertson, described the attackers as "hired assailants," raising the question of who might have orchestrated such a targeted attack. The surveillance video also shows a third suspect placing what police have identified as a "tracking device" under the family’s vehicle, adding another layer of concern for Ling and his family.

Ongoing Police Investigation and Public Appeal

The Ridge Meadows RCMP is actively investigating the incident, reviewing surveillance footage, and speaking with potential witnesses. While the investigation is still in its early stages, initial findings suggest that this was a targeted attack. Ling, who sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, has since been hospitalized.

In a bid to gather more information, Ling has shared the surveillance video with the public. His lawyer, Robertson, emphasized the importance of bringing the incident to light, hoping that someone with information will come forward. "He is certainly afraid and afraid for his family, but he’s not afraid to speak up," Robertson stated, highlighting Ling's determination to seek justice.

Family Flees Canada Amid Safety Concerns

Fearing for their lives, Ling and his family have left Canada. Ling's lawyer explained that the decision was made out of a legitimate fear that the attackers might return to "finish the job." Ling suspects that the attack was orchestrated by someone familiar with him, adding to the family's anxiety.

Despite the fear and uncertainty, Ling remains hopeful that sharing the video will lead to the identification of those responsible. The Ridge Meadows RCMP continues to urge anyone with information about the attack to contact them at 604-463-6251.

This incident has not only shaken the Ling family but also raised concerns within the Pitt Meadows community, highlighting the need for vigilance and community support in the face of such violent acts.
