A 58-year-old man from Niagara-on-the-Lake, identified as Kenneth Bettes, has been arrested following a series of troubling incidents across the Niagara region. Bettes, a former officer with the Niagara Regional Police, is facing several charges, including three counts of criminal harassment, assault, indecent act, and assault with a weapon. These incidents reportedly took place between November 8 and 10, raising concerns about public safety in the area.

Incidents Spanning Grimsby to St. Catharines
According to police reports, Bettes allegedly approached several women at a liquor store in Grimsby, making inappropriate sexual gestures and comments. In another incident, he is accused of assaulting a female clerk at a cannabis store in St. Catharines. Adding to the list of charges, Bettes reportedly threw a bottle of water at a male employee at a farm in Niagara-on-the-Lake. These incidents have prompted a swift response from local law enforcement, who are actively investigating the case.
Ongoing Investigation and Community Concerns
The Niagara Regional Police have confirmed that Bettes is no longer employed with their service, a detail that was corroborated by Stephanie Sabourin, the NRP's manager of communications. Due to privacy and employment legislation, further information about his past employment cannot be disclosed. Bettes last appeared on the Ontario Sunshine List in 2016, indicating he earned over $100,000 annually as a constable.
Police believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward. They describe Bettes as a white male, standing six feet tall and weighing 240 pounds, with a shaved head and grey facial hair.
